The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils
This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster and Deputy Head of Academic and Futures. They were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

Henry (4th), Jasper (4th), James L (4th), James P (4th) and Charlie (4th)
Over the May half term, this group of friends took part in a charity climb up Snowdon. In typical Welsh style, what had been a record-breaking sunny week turned into a very cloudy day with visibility down to less than 50 metres all the way to the summit. But summit they did, via the Watkin Path, one of the more challenging routes. The boys really enjoyed themselves and showed grit and determination in what were pretty unpleasant conditions. A great day and they raised over £600 for The Icarus Charity

Leighton Thomas (1st)
Thomas has faced his challenges head on with drawing and has been engaged in drawing sessions with Mr Howell and is now drawing people profiles! Amazing achievement to see his skills developing. Well done!
Lottie (1st)
Lottie has competed in 5 NGA 4 piece competitions since 14th February. Of the 5 competitions she came 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 4th (with a minimum of 12-14 gymnasts in her group each comp). Her highest two AA scores were taken, and on these she has qualified for the NGA National Finals Level 3 in Liverpool on 27th June.
Thomas L (3rd)
Thomas achieved 4th in Combined Events in Athletics for Oswestry School, and has therefore been selected to represent Shropshire in this event at the Regional Champs on Sunday 28th June at Ellesmere Port.
Annabelle (4th)
Annabelle achieved 3rd in Combined Events in Athletics for Oswestry School, and has therefore been selected to represent Shropshire in this event at the Regional Champs on Sunday 28th June at Ellesmere Port.
Jeffrey (4th)
Jeffrey performed a magnificent rendition of the piano duet 'En Bateau' in this week's assembly in front of the whole school. He has worked particularly hard to learn this piece in a short space of time for his GCSE music and has taken the opportunity now to perform it twice to an audience while collaborating well as part of this duet.

Brodie (2nd) and Calum (3rd)
Brodie and Calum have been selected to attend Tennis Shropshire County Training. This is an initiative supported by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) which focuses on getting the top 6 players in each age group together on a monthly basis to train together. County Training takes place 8 times throughout the year and with competitions against other Counties across the Country. The children are incredibly committed to their sport, each player at County Training trains 2–4 times a week for up to 8 hours a week, frequently attending tournaments across the region during their weekends & school holidays. This is a fantastic achievement which Brodie and Calum should be exceptionally proud of. Well done both!

Dylan (4th)
This forte award has been given to Dylan for his exceptional responsibility to his cricket training throughout the winter, culminating in being invited to participate in the full Worcester Academy. He has also achieved two 100's while representing the school and runs for the county team too. In addition, he has been selected for Shropshire U18s, playing 3 years above his age. He leads our cricket academy but he does not rest on his ability, he is always striving for more.
