Oswestry Forest School Playgroup (2–4) | Oswestry School Prep Forest School Stay and Play

Give your child the freedom to explore, discover and grow in the great outdoors. Our Forest School Stay & Play sessions offer a calm, welcoming environment where young children can enjoy nature alongside their parent or carer, building confidence, curiosity and a love of the natural world from an early age.

Led in our beautiful Forest School setting, these sessions are all about unstructured play, gentle exploration and shared experiences. Each week may look a little different, from woodland walks to nature discovery, with occasional opportunities for seasonal activities.

First session on Friday 17 April.

What to expect

  • Weekly sessions every Friday during term time
  • Sessions run from Friday17 April to Friday 22 May 2026
  • £20 for a 6 week block - payable at the first session
  • 9.15am – 10.30am
  • Meet at Main Reception at Senior School (Oswestry School, Upper Brook Street, Oswestry SY11 2TL)
  • For children aged 2+ (with parent or carer supervision)
  • Small group size (maximum 12 children) to ensure a calm, supportive experience
  • Opportunities to explore, play and connect with nature
  • Optional activities may include woodland discovery, seasonal crafts or simple outdoor experiences

Our first session will focus on exploring the site and hunting for woodland friends.

Is this an Oswestry playgroup or a nursery group?

It is a parent and toddler Stay and Play session for ages 2–4 at our dedicated Forest School at Oswestry School. Many families use it as a playgroup experience in Oswestry, and it is also ideal for parents exploring Nursery and Reception at Oswestry School Prep.

What age is Stay and Play for?

Children aged 2–4 are welcome with a parent or carer.

Do parents stay for the session?

Yes. Stay and Play is designed for parents and carers to stay and enjoy the session alongside their child. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all rtimes whilst exploring our Forest School environment.

Do I need to book?

Booking is essential due to limited number of spaces. Please use the booking form below to register.

What happens during the session?

Children enjoy a range of simple, purposeful activities and free play in a Forest School setting. 

Can I ask about joining Oswestry School Prep?

Absolutely. Stay and Play is a great first step if you are considering independent education. Our team can talk you through Nursery and Reception entry and suggest next steps.

Where is it held and is there parking?

The Forest School sessions will be held at Oswestry School, Upper Brook Street, Oswestry, SY11 2TL. Please come to reception for 9.15am and you will be escorted up to our lovely Forest School site!

Parking is available in the Oswestry School car park opposite Oswestry School or there is plenty of on-road parking close to the school. Oswestry School is also a short walk from town center parking.

What do I need to bring/wear?

Wellies are a must as well as a waterproof suit/bib and brace trousers. Layers are a good idea depending on the weather.

When do the sessions start?

The first session is on Friday 17 April 2026. The 6 week block will run until Friday 22 May. 

How much does it cost?

It costs £20 for the 6 week block - this is payable at the first session.
