School House

Meet the School House Housemistress

With a background in biochemistry and a passion for science inspired by her engineer father, Kay Lowry began her career in education after training as a teacher in Worcestershire. A devoted mum, she cherished the time spent as a full-time parent when her children were young. Now, with a daughter studying medicine and a son completing an engineering apprenticeship, family remains at the heart of her life.

She brings warmth, care, and a strong sense of community to School House, creating a "home from home" where boys are encouraged to embrace new challenges, form lasting friendships, and fully engage with boarding life.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking for her family, reading, listening to music, and walking her dogs through the beautiful Shropshire countryside. An avid traveller, she especially loves Greece—and the tranquil island of Symi, where her favourite spot, Nimborios, offers the perfect escape for reading and swimming in peace.

What she loves most about School House is its character, the stunning surroundings, and those treasured moments—from Saturday evening chats over cheese and chutneys with senior boys, to the joy of seeing everyone dancing in the Snug.

Mrs Lowry is supported in School House by Matron and Assistant House Mistress, Susanna Rogers.

Join Antonin on a tour of School House

School House accommodates up to 40 boys aged 10 to 18, offering a warm and supportive boarding environment in beautiful surroundings at the centre of the school campus. The house features a variety of spacious bedrooms, including doubles, triples, and four-bed dorm rooms, all thoughtfully furnished to provide comfort and functionality. Every bedroom is furnished with dedicated study space, wardrobes, and a secure lockable area for each pupil's personal belongings.

A large communal area with a shared kitchen forms the heart of the house—an inviting space where boys can relax together, prepare snacks, and often find Mrs Rogers cooking up after-school treats. Additional social spaces throughout the house encourage connection and a strong sense of community.

Set within the school’s original historic boarding house, School House has been beautifully renovated to a high standard, preserving its stunning original features whilst offering modern facilities. Centrally located on campus, it combines heritage, character, and convenience—providing a true home from home where boys can thrive both academically and personally.
