Co-Curricular

With over 130 co-curricular activities on offer across our Senior and Prep Schools, there truly is something for everyone. From sports clubs, performing arts, music, creative and academic societies to adventurous challenges and life-skills focused clubs, pupils are encouraged to explore, take risks, and discover passions that will stay with them for life.

Co-curricular is about going beyond the curriculum—offering choice, variety, and a chance for pupils to try something new, something fun, or something that simply sparks curiosity. Whether it’s coding, chess, dance, debating, lifesaving, or expedition training, our programme is carefully crafted to be rich, varied, stimulating and fun. It’s about helping pupils connect with the wider world and develop the confidence and character to thrive.

Our major strands include:

Enrichment Fridays

Every Friday afternoon, pupils from Third Form and above step into a programme designed to help them "learn not just for school but for life." This dedicated time is a valuable part of the school week, offering pupils the chance to engage in structured, future-focused activities that enrich their learning beyond the traditional curriculum.

Pupils choose from an exciting range of options including CCF, Community Action, OsBizz (enterprise and business initiative), Lifesaving, Public Speaking, Performance Tennis, and more. These experiences are designed to be challenging, purposeful, and personally rewarding, allowing pupils to develop key life skills such as leadership, communication, initiative, and resilience. Through Enrichment Fridays, pupils deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them—preparing not only for exams, but for adulthood, careers, and citizenship.

Our extensive trips programme adds a global dimension to pupils’ education. Recent adventures include skiing in Spain, cultural exploration in New York, sports tours, and a thrilling expedition to Costa Rica. Looking ahead, pupils can look forward to planned visits to Nepal and Peru, sports tours, and more life-shaping opportunities abroad.

We are proud of a co-curricular programme that evolves with our pupils, ensuring they leave Oswestry School not only academically prepared, but equipped with the skills, confidence and experiences they need to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives.
