Guinevere House

Meet the Guinevere House parents

Sue Davies is the Housemistress of Guinevere House.

Sue brings exceptional continuity, warmth, and experience to the role, having worked at Oswestry School for 41 years. During this time, she has been a Teaching Assistant at Oswestry Prep and previously served as Housemistress of Guinevere House, caring for girls aged 11-18, before moving to Holbache House to support boys aged 16-18. Her long-standing involvement in boarding gives her a deep understanding of the pastoral, academic, and emotional needs of pupils across a wide age range.

Boarding life has always been a family commitment for Sue. She lived in the boarding houses with her husband Ian and their two sons, Matthew (now 23) and Freddie (18). Both boys were pupils at Oswestry, beginning their education at Oswestry Prep before progressing to the Senior School. Ian also played an active role in school life, supporting the PE department with coaching and fixtures and contributing as an integral member of the boarding team.

As a family, the Davies share a strong love of sport, both taking part, supporting, and spectating, and this enthusiasm has long been part of their contribution to boarding life. Sue is very much looking forward to returning to Guinevere House once more, bringing with her deep-rooted experience, a calm and reassuring presence, and a genuine commitment to creating a warm, supportive, and close-knit boarding community where girls can thrive.

Mr and Mrs Davies are supported in Guinevere House by Assistant House Mistress, Claire Lyons.

Bedrooms are light and comfortably furnished, with a mix of single, double, and triple rooms. Each room includes dedicated study space, wardrobes, and secure, lockable storage for personal belongings—providing both privacy and practicality for every boarder.

At the heart of the house is a cosy shared kitchen and inviting communal lounge areas where girls can cook, chat, and relax together. These homely spaces are the backdrop for everything from quiet evenings in to lively weekend gatherings, helping to create lasting friendships and treasured memories.

Guinevere House blends the comfort of home with the structure of boarding life, offering a supportive and caring atmosphere where girls are encouraged to grow in confidence, explore new opportunities, and flourish as individuals.
