Prep School Curriculum

Experienced teachers deliver specialist subjects including PE, Spanish, French, music, theatre arts, and ballet. LAMDA exam tuition is available in Key Stage 2.

Learning is enhanced by a variety of trips, visitors, and workshops that inspire across curriculum areas. Regular Forest School sessions on our senior school’s extensive grounds are led by a qualified leader.

Our indoor heated pool offers weekly swimming lessons, and the expansive Maes-y-Llan provides space for various games and activities on Oswestry School’s 30 acres of playing fields.

Transition

At our Prep School, children flourish through a gradual transitional programme that begins in the earliest years. From Reception onwards, specialist teachers in Sport, Performing Arts, Music, and MFL teach across all year groups, ensuring children build strong relationships with staff who teach across the whole school.

Prep children benefit from the school's extensive facilities, including a swimming pool, sports hall, playing fields, theatre, all-weather pitch, and Forest School. Located on our senior site, they become familiar with the entire campus as they progress.

From Year 5, children start a bespoke transition programme into the senior school, spending two afternoons per week there, increasing to four afternoons in Year 6. They receive lessons from specialist teachers in subjects like Art, DT, Science, and Computing.

This unique programme ensures a seamless and stress-free transition from Prep to senior school ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience.
