The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils

This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster and Senior Deputy Headmaster. They were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

For Leo for his outstanding support of fellow pupil, Jasper, this week. Leo has been looking after him owing to Jasper's injury; carrying bags, sharing snacks, accompanying him, both in and out of school. Thank you, Leo.

The final will take place the first weekened of May in Swansea where they play Whitchurch HC U16. Not only has Ben been selected for the North Wales U17 boys squad pr upcoming summer hockey tournaments at Malvern and Nottingham, he has also been selected and has progressed from the Hockey Wales Country Pathway to the next level Regional Development Programme. An amazing display of commitment and accomplishment. Well done Ben!

Edward (4th)

Ed has been nominated by a representative from each department to be awarded the Forte Award as he has shown great academic progress in his recent mock examinations. Ed is deserving of recognition for all his efforts and his stoic attitude.

Ed M (2nd)

For the way he captained the team against Solihull at the weekend; encouraging positivity even when things weren't going their way and then leading by example by scoring his highest score - 96 not out when batting. Any successes Ed has had cricket-wise this summer are all due to his preparation throughout a long, gruelling winter. Early morning gym sessions at 7 o'clock, late-night Excel sports sessions, one-to-one sessions throughout the day are all part of the makeup of his innings of 96. He thoroughly deserves the success and accolades he gets, and this Forte award has proved that hard work breeds success. An absolute credit to have a part of the Excel Cricket Academy, and he sets a fine example for peers to emulate. Well done Ed!

Mabli (2nd)

Mabli has been picked for North Wales u13 hockey team following intense trails.

Ffion (U6th)

This weekend, Ffion represented CFFI Dyffryn Tanat YFC at the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs Entertainment Finals, where the team achieved an impressive second place overall in the NFYFC Entertainment Competition. Ffion delivered an outstanding performance in Mamma Mia, demonstrating exceptional talent and stage presence. Ffion also performed a fantastic (early-morning) rendition of the 'The Winner Takes it All' in whole-school assembly this week, confidently and without complaint. She has excelled herself over the last few weeks in the show with very little vocal coaching while still mantaining great contribution to other elements of Music and Performing Arts at the school.

Rose (4th)

Rose, you have made tremendous progress this year in biology and scored an outstanding mark on your end-of-year paper. This Forte is awarded in recognition of your resilience and skillset as a strong indpendent learner. A huge well done!

Kseniia (L6th)

Woody (1st)

Woody has worked very hard over the last term to build a huge Bug Hotel for the Learning Support Garden. This was put in place during the first week of Trinity Term and we hope it will encourage bugs and mni beasts into the garden. Well done, Woody.

Emily (5th)

Emily has excelled herself this week performing as the only student in the pit band for the school show. She has put in maximum effort into learning the music to be able to naturally perform alongside other professional musicians with ease.
