The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils

This week's Forte gathering was held by our Senior Deputy Headmaster and our Deputy Head Co-Curricular and Partnerships. They were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

Kate (1st Form)
Florence (1st Form)
Joseph (1st Form)
Thomas (3rd Form)
Bella (4th Form)
Harry (5th Form)

Our pupils produced an excellent set of performances at the 2025 Dave Sunderland Inter Counties Cross Country Championships, held on Saturday 22nd November in the stunning grounds of Himley Hall. The event brought together seven counties from across the region, with large competitive fields in every race. The course at Himley Hall followed the traditional format: a challenging mix of open fields, woodland trails and testing inclines, providing a true cross-country test for all athletes.

The results show strong performances from our pupils who were all representing Shropshire. The top 10 finishers lead into a UK-wide competition. Congratulations on your amazing finishing positions!

Kate: 72nd (8th in Shropshire)
Florence: 55th (5th in Shropshire)
Joseph: 16th (3rd in Shropshire)
Thomas: 9th (1st in Shropshire)
Bella: 38th (2nd in Shropshire)
Harry: 25th (3rd in Shropshire)*

Joseph (1st Form)
Joseph also receives another forte award in Sport - following 3 intense trial dates Joseph has successfully gained a place on the U13 County Hockey squad. Congratulations Joseph.
For the hat trick, Joseph also receives a forte award in Science, where he has been commended for a cleverly designed and executed cell model. The teacher loved the use of the various objects and materials with a clear explanation of each of the functional parts of a cell. Well done Joseph!

Sasha (L6th Form)
Sonya (L6th Form)
With only a couple of hours' notice, Sasha and Sonya graciously accepted the marketing department's plea to take photos of the FoOS Bonfire Night as the usual team were unable to attend. They took excellent photos throughout the night, capturing wonderful candid shots of happy parents, pupils and friends of the School. Thank you both!

Connie (4th Form)
Connie qualified and swam in the West Midlands Regional Winter Swimming Competition during half-term. This was the first time Connie has swum in Winter Regionals and she swam really well in the 50m breaststroke.

Noah (4th Form)
During half-term Noah qualified and swam in the West Midlands Regional Winter Swimming Championships in the 50m butterfly. He swam brilliantly against some strong competition setting a new personal best time in the U15 age group.

Pedro (U6th Form)
During a Futures Fortnight workshop, Pedro showed excellent innovation with his idea of a Mexico University 10k race and shared his timeline of how to run and set up this event. He thought carefully of the stakeholders involved, sponsorship and recruitment of volunteers. Alan Lewis from Adrenaline Sports was extremely impressed with Pedro's idea.

Christopher (4th Form)
Christopher has taken the opportunity to spend a term at Oswestry School this Michaelmas 2025, and what a super term he is having! Very much part of the School House family, Ms Lowry has watched Christopher’s confidence grow massively as he has used his English, made new friends and lots of happy memories. A huge well done, as Christopher has contributed in so many ways to the boarding house.
