The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils
This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster and Senior Deputy Headmaster. They were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...
Ronen (U6th)
Not only have you worked exceptionally hard on your own project for A-level media all year, Ronen, you have also been extremely helpful and supportive to others in the class.
Artie (U6th)
Jack (U6th)
Oli (U6th)
Artie, Jack and Oliver have finished their rugby careers with Oswestry on a high! As club players for Chester RUFC outside of the school's first XV, last weekend saw them win the highest accolade in Cheshire - as winners of the Cheshire Cup. This is a fiercely contested competition, with some quality sides competing for the Cup, and Chester have been spectacular in securing the Cup this season. Playing against Caldy, they won 34-15 at Macclesfield RUFC, with some sterling performances on this occasion with Jack playing a strong role in the forwards, and Artie performing fiercely as a centre, our captains of the school team, with Oliver cheering on his team mates from the sidelines due to injury at the end of the season. A great finale to their U18s careers as Senior Colts and schoolboy players.
Pauline (3rd)
Pauline played in the national schools magazine tennis competition on just the 3rd day she arrived with us here. She took the challenge headfirst, showed incredible resilience and determination, and won her singles match vs Repton School. An incredible achievement to win against a school that is highly regarded for its tennis! Well done, Pauline. This is a great start to your time here, and I look forward to seeing you flourish more on the tennis court.
Teddy (3rd)
Teddy has grown in confidence over the last several months and has worked hard to overcome his challenges. Teddy has formed positive relationships with staff and peers and can always be relied upon to model best practice.
Lottie (1st)
Lottie represented Oswestry School in the GB Schools Biathlon Champions on Saturday 21st March.
Akaash (L6th)
Akaash swam in the 100 m backstroke "A" para final of the British Swimming Championships and achieved 5th position.
Daniel (U6th)
Daniel has excelled himself in singing this year, having taken part and been a finalist in the Young Performer back in November, followed by being Oswestry School's only entry into the Under 21 singing category of the Oswestry Youth Music Festival (coming a very close second) and topping off the year by performing his pieces in assembly with great technical accuracy and enjoyment this week.

Morgan (3rd)
Morgan composed, performed, recorded, digitally mixed and shared the most amazing song. He wrote the song as part of his GCSE Music course and then let us listen to it in form time. It's so impressive - could be a long lost Pink Floyd track.
Ollie (2nd)
Rescued a sheep during Cross Country Club. A member of the public alerted us to a sheep with its head stuck in a fence, and Ollie stepped up, saying "I'm a farmer - I know how to rescue sheep!" The lady described where the sheep was and we ran to it, and with 3 or 4 quick tugs Ollie freed it! We encountered the lady again later and she was extremely thankful, so Ollie was also a good ambassador for the school.

Oscar (L6th)
Oscar has been selected as a keeper for the North Wales U17 hockey team when they participate in the County Hockey Championships in Nottingham in July this year. Although unable to trial, his selection was based on his performances for North Wales in The Mercia Cup in 2025. Oscar will also be able to resume regional training with Wales Hockey in May. This is an excellent achievement and shows Oscar's resilience following injury & returning to sport.

Tilly (3rd)
Tilly showed fantastic leadership qualities by stepping up to be a DM for a group of 7 at Dungeons and Dragons for the Lent term. She creatively planned her group's sessions and confidently led them through the story each week. Tilly had patience for players of all abilities and took the time to explain the game and share her own resources with others. It has been great to see Tilly grow in confidence - we couldn't have run the club without her last term!
