The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils

This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster and Deputy Head Of Co-Curricular and Partnerships. They were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

Annabelle (2nd Form)
For her strong performance as part of the Shropshire team at the recent Inter-Counties Indoor Sportshall Athletics Competition at Solihull. Annie competed in the obstacle relay team, vertical jump and 6 lap race with a sprint finish in the latter, beating Birmingham to gain 3rd place.

Joseph (1st Form)
Following Joseph's impressive representation for Shropshire, securing 16th and 3rd, he has been selected to represent nationally to race for Shropshire at the National Cross Country Championships.

Hannah (5th Form)
Isha (5th Form)
Willow (5th Form)
Margaux (5th Form)
Daisy (5th Form)
Grace (5th Form)

Fabulous contributions in Community Action. Excellent participation and enthusiasm particularly when visiting residential homes. They created and presented a garden birdwatch talk and quizzes, and a Valentine's talk. They also made wonderful decorations and cards with the residents!

Abigaël (4th Form)

Fabulous contributions in Community Action. Excellent participation and enthusiasm particularly when visiting residential homes.

Also, Abi was fantastic as Cici's mentor during the Immersion Programme week - Cici proved to be an interested, curious and enthusiastic addition to the house and Abi really supported and nurtured her, helping her to make friends and to engage with activities around the school site. She has shown remarkable maturity and a great sense of responsibility. Mr Walters is very grateful to her!

Emily (5th Form)

Fabulous contributions in Community Action. Excellent participation and enthusiasm particularly when visiting residential homes.

And also for a fantastic performance in assembly this week - exemplifying the title of 'Young Performer of the Year' excellently. She braved the daunting task of playing in front of the whole school and did so with great technique and manner.

Pearl (5th Form)

Fabulous contributions in Community Action. Excellent participation and enthusiasm particularly when visiting residential homes.

Also, Pearl has been instrumental in taking responsibility for her own learning and development and is now mentoring others to discover the benefits of assistive technology.

Silas (4th Form)

Silas showed exceptional responsibility, maturity and pro-activity in mentoring Jerry during the Immersion Programme. His assiduousness in following the schedule, his empathy and warmth for Jerry and his awareness of the needs of the group made a profound difference to the success of the programme. Mr Walters is extremely grateful to him.

Ray (L6th Form)

Mr Walters was astonished and deeply impressed by Ray who went well out of his way to act as a buddy for not one but two of our pupils on the Immersion Programme. Always making sure that they were in the right place at the right time, answering their queries and helping them to access activities in which they could flourish - what a splendid advertisement he has been for the school's ethos and culture. Mr Walters is extremely grateful to him.
