The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils

This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster, Mr Middleton, and Senior Deputy Headmaster, Mr Lane. Both were delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

Sophie (4th Form)
This Forte Award Nomination is issued in recognition of Sophie's exceptional contribution to our boarding community. Throughout her time with us this year, she has consistently embodied our ethos, values and virtues, in particular showing integrity and quiet determination. Sophie's commitment to her studies is outstanding, and her respectful, thoughtful nature has made her a role model to all, not through loud recognition, but through consistent, authentic excellence. Sophie has flourished in boarding, bringing humour, warmth and impressive poise and maturity. This nomination affirms what we already know: her efforts are seen, her strengths are recognised and her future is bright. You have been a shining star in Guinevere House.

Heidi (3rd Form)
Heidi has shown admirable resilience in her Maths work this year, and should be very proud of herself for how far she has come. She worked incredibly hard for her Masters exam, which paid off with her result. Heidi has made 5 sublevels of progress since the Michaelmas term, which is phenomenal given that we normally expect 2 or 3 sub levels within a year. We are super proud of you, Heidi! Keep up the amazing work.

Lottie (1st Form)
Lottie recently took part in the Welsh Gymnastics Tumble League 2 competition. She came away with a team gold medal, and individual gold - winning her age/level category! She successfully did her round off, 4 flicks tuck back, round off 4 flicks pike back, and then for the first time in competition, her round off flick straight back - nailing the landing!

Sienna (4th Form)
Sienna was an exceptional captain on Wednesday at the U15 North Shropshire Cricket with our U15 Girls Team. She took ownership of her role and led the girls with professionalism and drive. She motivated all members of the team and was supportive to all.

Zachary (2nd Form)
Zach has worked incredibly hard this year to develop his handwriting skills and has shown increased independence in his writing. He is working without the support of staff and is taking ownership over his learning. He has worked hard during his masters and it has been good to see him hand write his exam papers.

George (2nd Form)
George has become much more independent in his studies and is taking ownership of his learning. He has developed his handwriting skills and has worked hard to access learning without support.

James (3rd Form)
For his hard work and dedication in preparation for a graded piano exam. His piano teacher has been most impressed with the progress James has made. James has shown great proactivity and independence, and this effort has not gone unnoticed. Well done, James!

Theo (4th Form)
Theo has amazing photographic skills. He is particularly interested in aviation photography and so spends time visiting air shows and other suitable locations, taking thousands of photographs. He then selects the images he wants to edit and adds his own watermark to the finished product. The resulting images are really impressive and, what is also astounding, is that he can also fly an aeroplane.

Isabelle (2nd Form)
Isabelle went above and beyond in preparing for her Maths Masters. She spent a total of 9 hours and 20 minutes on Sparx doing her own independent study, answering an impressive 679 questions! Well done, Isabelle - your outstanding score truly reflects your hard work and proactive attitude

Henry (2nd Form)
Henry has been doing French Duolingo on his own every day for the past 500 days, giving him a tremendous 500-day streak. This means that for over 16 months, he has not had a single day where he has not done some French language activities on Duolingo. This is a great way to improve language skills, and a fantastic achievement for Henry.
