The Forte Award
Celebrating the Strength and Excelling of Oswestry School pupils

This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster. He was delighted to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...

Blanca (4th Form)
Kristina (L6th Form)
Andrej (L6th Form)
Unai  (L6th Form)
Janice (4th Form)

In recognition of the hard work, independence, empathy and collaboration you demonstrated on International Day when giving a presentation on your country at the Prep School. Thank you for sharing your culture with our younger learners.

Oscar (L6th Form)
Julius (L6th Form)

For demonstrating authentic politeness and congenial conversation to one of the school drivers when collected from the local Mile End Golf Club one evening. The bus driver praised their courteous conduct and said it was a pleasure to witness our pupils positively promoting themselves and Oswestry School in the local community.

Ella (4th Form)
Ella gave up her time to play the 'grandma' role in the prep school play. A decision which not only lifted those younger pupils' experience, but allowed them to see where hard work and dedication to a subject can lead you. She was an asset to us, and a wonderful role model. Thank you Ella.

Ilia (4th Form)
For demonstrating outstanding commitment, hard work and participation whilst volunteering. Ilia has worked so hard both for Oswestry’s in Bloom and at Woodhill estates, cutting down willow, shovelling bark into trailer wheelbarrowing loads of bark up slopes to create paths. No encouragement needed. Very proactive. No slacking!

Angèle (2nd Form)
For showing great tenacity and determination to produce excellent prototype prosthetic devices.

Bella (3rd Form)
Isabella has done multiple 'extra' things for the performing art department recently. She designed a beautiful poster/programme for the music department, and gave up a few days to support the prep pupils during their show. She entirely ran the back stage part of the show and showed great responsibility. Thank you for all your help, you are a wonderful role model.

Sophia (2nd Form)
Sophia has done multiple 'extra' things for the performing art department recently, most notably giving up a few days to support the prep pupils during their show. She entirely ran the back stage part of the show and showed great responsibility. Thank you for all your help, you are a wonderful role model.

Sofia (L6th Form)
Wang Q (L6th Form)

Fabulous work in the STEM Ambassador team, running our Prosthetics Arms Race day for our 2nd Form students.

This year, with the launch of the 2030 Strategic Plan- Forte - pupils will be recognised for embodying and demonstrating the school’s Values and Virtues.  Underpinning all aspects of school life, Oswestry School’s Values and Virtues are central to our school’s vision and ethos, empowering pupils in their Oswestry journey and enabling all individuals to excel and find their forte.

Our Values are what we believe in; things that we hold as important and core to who we are. Oswestry School’s Values are deeply rooted and serve as a firm foundation for positive wellbeing, character development and contribution to society.  Our Values are: Flourishment; Opportunity; Responsibility; Trust; Empathy.

Our Virtues represent a range of skill sets that can be experienced, developed and mastered here at Oswestry School. They are behaviours, character strengths, attitudes and mindsets that enable pupils to thrive at school and flourish in life. Our Virtues encourage pupils to be: Analytical; Collaborative; Independent; Innovative; Proactive; Resilient.
