It has been a day of celebration at Oswestry School as pupils received their GCSE results, achieving the best set of grades in recent years. An impressive 92% of results were awarded grades 9–4, the school’s highest ever (excluding the pandemic years), with 30% at grades 9–7.
Amongst many individual successes, twins Ella and Thomas achieved a remarkable 13 grade 9s, four grade 8s and a grade 7 between them, while fellow pupil Akaash secured a 100% pass rate whilst also balancing his studies with training and competing as part of the GB para-swimming pathway.
Headmaster, Peter Middleton, praised both pupils and staff for this record-breaking achievement:
“We are delighted for our pupils whose hard work and assiduous approach has been rewarded with a stellar set of results. As a relatively small school, we are able to support pupils at an individual level and ensure that no pupil slips through the cracks; this record-breaking set of results is testimony to the outstanding teaching and learning delivered by our team of experienced and passionate teachers. We are proud to see our pupils having achieved in the exam hall as they prepare to take the next step into the Sixth Form where we’ve no doubt they’ll go on to further thrive, flourish, and find their forte.”
The results reflect not only the academic talent of Oswestry School pupils but also their commitment, resilience, and ability to balance school life with wider interests and pursuits.
A hearty and heartfelt congratulations goes to all of our GCSE pupils on their outstanding achievements. We look forward to welcoming them into Sixth Form, where they will continue to grow, challenge themselves, and seize every opportunity the next stage of their education brings.
