A sense of celebration filled Oswestry School today as the Class of 2025 returned to collect their A Level results — achieving an impressive 99.2% pass rate, the highest figure since 2022, with over a quarter of all grades awarded at A or A*.

Among the many individual successes, standout achievements included:

  • Hannah Seitz, who secured three A*s and an A alongside her title as British Schools’ National Shooting Champion at Senior level earlier this year.
  • Cameron McNeil, a local student, whose three As have secured him a place at the University of Manchester to study Biomedical Sciences.
  • Anna Kiselevskaya, a leading member of the school’s STEM Ambassador group, who achieved an A* and two As, earning her a place at the University of Oxford to read Biochemistry.

A significant number of this year’s cohort will now progress to leading universities across the UK and overseas, including Bristol, York, and Edinburgh, pursuing a diverse range of degree subjects from Medicine and Law to Criminology, Aerospace Engineering, and Sport Psychology. Impressively, close to 80% of students have secured their first-choice university place.

Reflecting on the results, Headmaster Peter Middleton said:

“We are delighted to see our pupils rewarded for all their hard work and effort with this excellent set of results. We are proud that as a non-selective school, we are able to focus on individually nurturing each and every one of our pupils, and ensuring that each achieves their personal potential, supported in achieving their aspirations, and enabled to thrive in their futures beyond school. As they prepare to move on to university, degree apprenticeships or the world of work, we wish them every success for their onward journey. As the poet TS Eliot put it, ‘not farewell, but fare forward, voyagers!’”

Founded in 1407, Oswestry School has a proud history of nurturing the talents and abilities of its students, whether they are from the local community or further afield. The school’s motto, We Learn Not For School But For Life, continues to guide its mission in preparing pupils with the skills, values, and confidence to flourish in their chosen paths.
