2nd Form pupil Thomas showcased his athletic prowess by securing a commendable third place in the Modern Pentathlon at the School Games National Finals, held recently at Loughborough University.

Competing in the under-15 category, Thomas faced the challenge of a newly introduced Olympic discipline, Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), along with Swimming, Fencing, and Laser Run. His combined efforts earned him a well-deserved bronze medal.

In addition to his individual success, Thomas contributed to an impressive team performance, earning a Gold Medal in the overall team scores for Boys and Girls across the events.

The four-day event at Loughborough University saw over 1,500 competitors participating in 11 different sports. Beyond the intense competition, the athletes benefited from an enrichment programme led by mentors, offering guidance and support through workshops on topics such as Effort and Attitude, Self-Compassion, and The Values Led Path. Participants from the Pentathlon Development team also engaged in immersive experiences, gaining valuable insights into Olympic-level sport.

The School Games National Finals kicked off with an electrifying opening ceremony featuring music, dance, and well-wishes from past Games alumni. Hosted by Tom Gayle and Pamela Cookey, the event was officially opened by Olympic triathlon bronze medallist Sam Dickinson, who inspired the young athletes as they embarked on their sporting journey.

This prestigious event provided Thomas and his fellow competitors with the unique opportunity to experience a multi-sport Games, replicating the atmosphere and challenges of a world-class competition. Thomas will continue his journey with the Pentathlon GB development programme throughout the winter, building on his achievements at the School Games.
