Nell E: Flying High in Her Netball Journey

We are absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news about Nell, a talented young netballer whose hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport are taking her to new heights.

From early beginnings to performance pathways

Nell has been playing netball from a young age, first picking up the sport at Oswestry Netball Club, where her love for the game began to shine through. Since joining Oswestry School, netball has become her focus sport, and she has continued to go from strength to strength.

Keen to challenge herself further, Nell joined Dragons, and later set her sights even higher by competing at Cheshire Panthers, where she honed her skills and gained invaluable experience against strong opposition.

A September full of trials and triumphs

This September has been an especially exciting time for Nell. She took part in the Shropshire U15 County Performance Pathway trials, facing fierce competition from talented players across the region. At the same time, she also trialled for the Nottingham Forest Performance Pathway at the Oswestry School Hub.

We’re thrilled to announce that Nell has secured a firm place on the Nottingham Forest Performance Pathway along with a place in the U15 Shropshire County Netball Squad — an incredible achievement that recognises both her talent and commitment. Nell is one of our pupils who has achieved both accolades.

Strength in defence — and versatility on court

Nell is an outstanding defender, with the Goal Keeper (GK) position as her favourite and strongest role. Her excellent reading of the game, timing, and composure under pressure make her a formidable force in the defensive circle.

But Nell’s talents don’t stop there. She is also a versatile player, able to step into any position on the court, making her an invaluable asset to any team she plays for.

 Looking ahead

Being accepted into both Shropshire & Nottingham Forest Performance Pathway is a fantastic opportunity for Nell to train in a high-performance environment, develop further under top-level coaching, and test herself against other ambitious players.

Her journey from local club to pathway level is a brilliant example of what passion, perseverance, and hard work can achieve. It’s also a real inspiration to other students in our community who aspire to reach their own sporting goals.
