This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster, Mr Middleton, who was delighted to be able to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...
Freya (4th)
Freya has been selected for her 3rd season at Shropshire Hockey U15. This is an excellent achievement for a young girl who works hard on and off the pitch for hockey, along with her other commitments in Performing Arts and other sports.
Teddy (2nd)
Teddy deserves a Forte Award for his tremendous effort and improvement in Hand Ball during his P.E. lesson this week. Teddy played really well in goal, saving many goals. Afterwards, when playing out of goal, Teddy made some really excellent interceptions and scored some really good goals. At the end of the lesson several of the pupils mentioned that Teddy has played exceptionally well. Teddy was so happy with how the lesson went. Well done Teddy on your noteworthy improvement.
Andrej (L6th)
Andrej has impressed on the basketball court since he joined the Sixth Form at Oswestry School this year, and has already been selected for the Shrewsbury Storm squad, making his debut this week against Wrexham.
James (3rd)
Last week, Mr Carr introduced his third form group to Python using a set of tutorials designed to last for about six weeks. James arrived this week having worked, entirely independently, through all the tutorial material. James also then developed a simple calculator app to demonstrate his new skills and knowledge. The ownership of his own learning demonstrated is inspiring.
Samuel (5th)
Sammy has worked independently to create the most amazing set of design ideas for his D&T NEA portfolio. The quality of his drawings, detail in his annotation and variety in the designs is exceptional. Well done.
Hallie (1st)
Hallie has really been making the most of the library since she started this term. She comes in at breaktime and lunchtime to read, catch up on Prep, get involved with library activities, or even further her own learning by - for example - borrowing an atlas to study countries and continents with her friend. It is great to see her utilising everything the library has to offer and seeking out ways to learn more!
Ahmed (1st)
Ahmed has shown remarkable resilience, determination and positivity since joining Oswestry School. Despite facing personal challenges, he consistently maintains a cheerful and engaging presence, actively participating in school life and embracing the Oswestry School community with enthusiasm.
This year, with the launch of the 2030 Strategic Plan- Forte - pupils will be recognised for embodying and demonstrating the school’s Values and Virtues. Underpinning all aspects of school life, Oswestry School’s Values and Virtues are central to our school’s vision and ethos, empowering pupils in their Oswestry journey and enabling all individuals to excel and find their forte.
Our Values are what we believe in; things that we hold as important and core to who we are. Oswestry School’s Values are deeply rooted and serve as a firm foundation for positive wellbeing, character development and contribution to society. Our Values are: Flourishment; Opportunity; Responsibility; Trust; Empathy.
Our Virtues represent a range of skill sets that can be experienced, developed and mastered here at Oswestry School. They are behaviours, character strengths, attitudes and mindsets that enable pupils to thrive at school and flourish in life. Our Virtues encourage pupils to be: Analytical; Collaborative; Independent; Innovative; Proactive; Resilient.
