This week's Forte gathering was held by our Headmaster, Mr Middleton, and Senior Deputy Head, Mr Lane. Both were delighted to be able to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...
Ines (3rd)
Thank you for being a fantastic buddy to our visiting pupils from China. You did and excellent job, showing responsibility, empathy and being proactive.
Antonin (5th)
Antonin was excellent during a medical emergency last Saturday where he ensured a foil blanket was provided for the other school's player and stayed with the player to reassure him and comfort him. Antonin showed exceptional trust and empathy here.
Jac (5th)
Jac has been selected to represent Wales in the National Academi U16 Representative squad in two weeks’ time.
Verity (2nd)
Verity’s county sport progress: Since September she has been selected for every county hockey tournament, except the one she was unavailable for. She played a tournament against Nottingham and Derbyshire this weekend and made the first team, which is a real achievement. After the hockey tournament, she went to county netball training which she really enjoys. Verity was selected for county cricket development and this has meant she is able to keep practicing cricket too. An extremely dedicated young lady.
Isha (4th)
Isha represented the school at netball last weekend showing exceptional skill prowess and positivity with her team.
Ferenc (5th)
Ferenc played a beautiful piece of music on his violin this morning in church and it was a pleasure to listen to. I would also like to nominate him for his resilience and determined attitude to make progress in the English language this term. He is an absolute pleasure to teach and an extremely polite young man!
Joanna (L6th)
Joanna is making an enormous effort to extend her reading far beyond the English Literature A Level curriculum; she asks the English teachers and the librarian for recommendations, and actively seeks out texts that she thinks will support her studies. She readily discusses everything she has read, and is evidently benefitting hugely from her extended studies.
Wang (L6th)
Wang Qi worked as part of a small team who entered the University of Southampton's National Cipher Challenge. She, and her team, cracked many different cyphers doing some remarkable coding in the process. Her team placed 3rd nationally from hundreds of entrants. They have been invited to Bletchley Park for the prize giving.
Tristan (4th)
Tristan has played a key role in rescuing and renovating not one but two historic steam engines. He has been proactively involved in learning how to strip down, clean, renovate and restore the engines. Not only that, he can both steer and drive them. It is a really impressive achievement and one that deserves recognition.
Marie (L6th)
Marie has worked incredibly hard to make a very neat mini table with patterned wood sections on the top and a mitre joined frame. Her table is accurate and completed to a high standard. Marie was very proactive and worked independently on the manufacture of her table. An even varnished finish has been applied. Well done Marie.
