Outstanding poetry contributions at Open Mic Night

A sparkling evening of poetry was enjoyed by over 40 guests who attended Oswestry School's first ever Poetry Open Mic Night on Monday. This event was a celebration of the power and beauty of poetry, and was specifically aimed at creating a relaxing and fun environment for our pupils and guests.

The evening was a huge success with some outstanding poetry contributions from Pupils and staff members. 2nd Former William attended and gave us his thoughts: "From the perspective of someone who isn’t much into poetry or a big bookworm in general, I really enjoyed poetry night. Not just because I got my chance to perform and make the audience laugh Princess Margaret style, but I also really enjoyed seeing the talent throughout the kids here as well. A stand out being Merle, a sixth former who I thought did exceptionally well, especially considering English wasn’t her first language. It wouldn’t be the Oswestry School evening however without some of the legends from the members of staff. Mr Hibbert was on top form with his latest Winnie the Pooh tie, Mr Howell made a cracking poem about stress, and it was good to see Mr Taylor returning to his love of fantasy. Overall a brilliantly constructed and performed night by the Librarian Mrs Lane and everyone involved. I look forward to seeing what the Library does next."
