This week's Forte gathering was held by our Senior Deputy Head, Mr Lane who was delighted to be able to meet with this week's winners and congratulate them on their efforts and achievements. Our winners were selected because they exhibited Forte virtues or values...
Maisey (4th)
For winning the Inter Girls 1500m at the Shropshire track and field championships to become County champion.
William (4th)
For winning the Inter Boys High Jump and Triple Jump at the Shropshire track and field championships to become County champion in both events.
Annabel (5th)
For winning the Inter Girls Triple Jump at the Shropshire track and field championships to become County champion.
Merle (L6th)
Merle's passion for poetry has been a joy to see - and hear - and her readings of self-penned work at the inaugural Poetry Open Mic Night in the Library were deeply moving and inspiring.
Edward (2nd)
Edward inspired the whole class during his art lesson. He worked with such effort and positivity that the whole of the class were swept along with his enthusiasm. He demonstrated to his peers how proud he was of his piece of work, (a cardboard collage) and the class lifted in mood and determination after seeing what could be achieved. It was lovely to see his positivity rubbing off on others.
Poppy (1st)
Poppy was selected for an area team to compete at Bolesworth international on Sunday. It was a pretty big deal to ride at such a big show. She was one of the youngest by a long way and on the smallest pony but as usual was cool as a cucumber and did herself and her club proud with a brilliant round on a home produced pony!
Thaenthep (Thaen) (L6th)
For leading his group and assisting with designing and painting the scenery for our school production over the last few weeks. He is motivated, creative and hardworking - continuing outside the Community action hours to complete the project.
Hannah (L6th)
Hannah adores gardening. She is motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic and shows great team work. She can be relied on every week. We receive great feedback on her work ethic from the groups we help. Hannah happily created and delivered a successful Volunteering assembly this week to 4th and L6th.
Wang (5th)
Exceptionally good study skills. She is spending all of her study leave in the library, absolutely dedicated to her revision. She takes the initiative to seek out additional materials and resources, and works extremely hard every day.
This year, with the launch of the 2030 Strategic Plan- Forte - pupils will be recognised for embodying and demonstrating the school’s Values and Virtues. Underpinning all aspects of school life, Oswestry School’s Values and Virtues are central to our school’s vision and ethos, empowering pupils in their Oswestry journey and enabling all individuals to excel and find their forte.
Our Values are what we believe in; things that we hold as important and core to who we are. Oswestry School’s Values are deeply rooted and serve as a firm foundation for positive wellbeing, character development and contribution to society. Our Values are: Flourishment; Opportunity; Responsibility; Trust; Empathy.
Our Virtues represent a range of skill sets that can be experienced, developed and mastered here at Oswestry School. They are behaviours, character strengths, attitudes and mindsets that enable pupils to thrive at school and flourish in life. Our Virtues encourage pupils to be: Analytical; Collaborative; Independent; Innovative; Proactive; Resilient.
