On Saturday 25th January — Robert Burns' actual birthday — Friends of Oswestry School gathered for a lively and memorable Burns Night, and perhaps in honour of the occasion, we saw our biggest turnout of tartan yet!

The evening began with a sparkling reception, where friends old and new caught up over a glass of fizz. We were in the capable hands of our Master of Ceremonies, Mr Taylor, who guided us through the night with his usual warmth and wit. A highlight, as always, was Headmaster Mr Middleton's spirited recitation of Address to a Haggis, bringing Burns' words to life in spectacular fashion.

Zoe and her catering team truly outdid themselves, serving up a delicious three-course meal that perfectly complemented the occasion. Mr Taylor was kept on his toes, not only overseeing proceedings but also the Toast to the Lassies and Laddies, beautifully and humorously delivered by Mr and Mrs Barlow, rounding odd the formalities with plenty of laughter.

Then it was time for the dancing! Notorious J.I.G. had the floor buzzing with their energetic ceilidh, ensuring the night ended on a high.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, making it such a fantastic evening. Special thanks go to Mr Middleton, Mr Taylor, and Mr and Mrs Barlow for their brilliant poems and speeches, as well as to Zoe Blakeley and the catering team, Mr David Jones and the estates team for their hard work behind the scenes. Until next year — slàinte mhath!
