Founders Day 2024 was a day to remember! The weather was especially kind to us for the celebration of our 617th Year as an Independent School. We were delighted to welcome so many pupils, their families, and Old Oswestrians to join us for a morning of thanksgiving, followed by an afternoon of fun in the September sunshine...
The day began with a service at St. Oswald's, led by Reverend Cranston. We heard from our Headmaster, Head of Prep, Chairman, and Heads of School. Both the Prep and Senior Choirs delivered beautiful performances, and our Guest Speaker, Mira Kovalchuk (OO ‘22), shared an inspiring story. As a Ukrainian national who came to study at Oswestry, Mira gave a moving account of the struggles young people from war-torn countries are currently facing.
Following the service, the festivities continued with a lively Family Fun Day on Maes-y-Llan. The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the fantastic dog show, which everyone enjoyed with its variety of adorable, waggy-tailed participants. Alongside the dog show, there were numerous stalls, inflatables, and fun activities. The OO vs. School sports fixture added a competitive edge to the proceedings.
it was wonderful to see so many members of the school community come together, thanks to all who attended and all who helped organise the event.
