Fundraising siblings Izzy and Jasper are nearing the end of their respective challenges to raise funds for the school's Performing Arts Centre appeal, and are on target to complete their challenges this weekend.
Izzy, who challenged herself to a 100kg litter-pick throughout June, has found the task unexpectedly difficult, mainly because plastic waste (which makes up the majority of litter on our streets) is so lightweight.
"Most of the litter I have picked up so far is plastic, and it weighs so little, " she said. "I have to pick bags and bags of litter to make up the weight. I have got to the point now where I really like coming across a can or something heavier!
"I have picked up over 75kgs of rubbish so far, and will complete my challenge this weekend. It has been a hard challenge to complete, but I am determined to do it."
Meanwhile, her brother Jasper, a keen archer, has flown through his personal challenge to let loose over 1000 arrows and hit his target with over a week to spare. But rather than put down his quiver, he has decided to extend his challenge and fire another 500 practice arrows before the end of June.
Both Izzy and Jasper are passionate about the performing arts Oswestry School; between them they are band members of two of the school's rock bands, the school choir and both performed at the end of term Summer Concert held on Tuesday.
