As Christmas draws near and excitement fills the air, it’s hard to think beyond the festive season. However, in February 2025 a group of 17 Oswestry School students and staff are already planning something truly special - we are preparing for a unique trip to The Restart Orphanage in Kenya.

During this life-changing experience, we will have the privilege of engaging in charity work and immersing ourselves in the local community. The Restart Centre, run by The Sanata Charitable Trust, is a registered charity that supports over 100 children in Gilgil, Kenya. These children, many of whom have endured significant trauma, are provided with food, shelter, education, and most importantly, love and care in a safe environment.

We are thrilled to share that, as part of Oswestry School’s commitment to community service and to ensure our visit has a meaningful impact, we are reaching out to our school community for support.

We would greatly appreciate donations of the following items, which we will personally deliver to Restart Africa:

  • Clothes (new or gently used, for children and teenagers)
  • Storybooks (from picture books to young adult literature)
  • Hygiene products (such as soap, toothpaste, and sanitary items)

In addition to collecting donations, we will be organizing several fundraising activities, including:

  • Cake Sales – more details to follow.
  • Home Clothes Day – a non-uniform day where students can contribute a small donation to participate.

Your generosity and involvement, whether through donations or participation in these events, will be appreciated. Please send any contributions to the school to help us prepare for the trip.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected]

Thank you for your kindness and continued support.
