Oswestry School sponsored the opening concert of the Whittington Music Festival which took place last Thursday evening in St John the Baptist Church in Whittington.  Mr Middleton and Mrs Lumley-Edwards were joined by a group of pupils who enjoyed a spectacular performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by the chamber ensemble, which included superstar violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason.  Old Oswestrian Kizzy Lumley-Edwards performed songs by Vivaldi, Handel and Purcell, accompanied by a string ensemble and harpsichord to give an authentic sound to songs written 300 years ago!

On Saturday Oswestry School pupils Nia and Alice had masterclasses from Braimah and Kizzy in the morning then performed their pieces in the Family Concert in the afternoon. Nia played both violin and viola beautifully, giving a confident a solo performance and playing as part of a chamber ensemble alongside the professional musicians. Alice stepped out of the chorister comfort zone to sing some light opera with great personality and flair which went down a storm with the audience.
