FLOURISHMENT
Percy (2nd)
Percy won the junior captains' nett prize and the junior club champs best nett blue tee competition this season, and was awarded them at the junior presentation at Oswestry Golf Club on Friday night. Well done, Percy, this shows how much your golf has come on in the last 8 months!
Chloé (2nd)
Chloé has settled so well into boarding life. She has been so brave in coming to another country to study. She is making a huge effort to improve her English and is growing in confidence daily. Well done, Chloé!
Zoe (L6th)
A great beginning to her time here. Becoming fully engrossed in the house and also all the activities Oswestry has to offer away from her academic life. A whole hearted and fun individual who has now joined the choir amongst other things.
Rhys (1st)
This weekend Rhys took part in the 2026-2027 Youth Series Fencing in Liverpool. He performed very well against a strong field and, despite an injury, won a bronze medal.
PROACTIVE
Tristan (L6th)
Although Tristan has only been studying photography for one week and has not previously taken an art subject, he very bravely agreed to photograph the Princess Royal at a social event in Shrewsbury this week. His outcomes are a testament to his bravery, with his subject being captured in close proximity and looking relaxed. They are shots worthy of a photographer with much more experience in this field and Tristan should be very proud of how he grasped the opportunity and fulfilled the brief perfectly.
Marlene (L6th)
Marlene has made a brilliant start to her A-level media studies. She goes above and beyond with her classwork and prep and is a real stand out pupil in terms of her attitude to learning. Media is a completely new topic for Marlene and she has embraced the lessons with real enthusiasm, always engaging with class discussions and offering her thoughts and ideas. Well done, Marlene!
RESILIENT
William (2nd)
William took part in the Founder’s Day shoot against the OO’s. His performance was excellent against significant opposition and on the back of very limited practice being early in the term. His skills were clear to see and he registered the highest score from the school team. He showed great determination to succeed and helped the school to a much closer result than last year. This time there were less than 10 points in it. Well done William, another great effort and so close in the end.
Lara (L6th)
Being resilient whilst settling into boarding life. A lovely young lady who is liked by all the house.
RESPONSIBILITY
Yimika (U6th)
For her wonderful contribution to Founder's Dinner on Saturday. Yimika represented the school brilliantly. She chatted to all the dinner guests, said 'grace' before dinner, and also took part in a Q&A with Mrs Wilton. Our OOs were very impressed!
Tom (U6th)
For his wonderful contribution to Founder's Dinner on Saturday. Tom represented the school brilliantly. He chatted to all the dinner guests, addressed the room with a toast, and also took part in a Q&A with Mrs Wilton. Our OOs were very impressed!
Sasha (U6th)
For her wonderful contribution to Founder's Dinner on Saturday. Sasha represented the school brilliantly. She was polite and engaging, taking the time to chat to all the dinner guests. Our OOs were very impressed!
Oscar (U6th)
Oscar gave the Senior School a wonderful introduction to the life of Frederick Burnaby in assembly this morning. He has set a high bar for his fellow heads of houses to follow! It was a beautiful mix of being both informative and entertaining and we're not easily going to forget: '6ft4”, 7 languages, 3 camels, one balloon and absolutely no idea when to stop!' Very well done, indeed, Oscar.
Charles (U6th)
A nomination is made in recognition of the hard work and professionalism shown to our new boarders who arrived on the Saturday before term began. Not only did the prefects volunteer their time to come into school to help, but they also met, greeted, toured and chatted with our new boarders with such warmth, compassion and empathy; qualities that are truly becoming of an Oswestry School prefect. Their kindness, maturity and willingness to go above and beyond made a real difference to the experience of our new boarders and their families and are a wonderful reflection of the values we expect from our prefects.
