Oswestry School pupils are celebrating a stellar set of results at A Level this year with over 10% of all grades at A*, the highest figure at the school since 2022.
Local student Wang Qi who has been at Oswestry since 2017 when she joined the Prep School achieved an outstanding clean sweep of four A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Computer Science whilst Upper Sixth Form Ukrainian boarder Mykola Mogilnikov was also rewarded for all his hard work with straight A* grades in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. Both Wang Qi and Mykola are described by the school as outstanding role models in their capacity as school prefects and having both achieved an illustrious gold award in the STEMM Ambassador Awards.
In the cohort as a whole, just under 50% of all grades were awarded in the A*-B band across the wide-ranging curriculum offering in the Sixth Form which includes new subjects such as Media Studies, Computer Science and CTech Sports Science. Alongside their principal subject choices, students at Oswestry School further enhanced their credentials with the vast majority gaining the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and LAMDA Public Speaking examination qualifications, providing additional valuable UCAS tariff points in support of their onward university applications.
Headmaster Peter Middleton commented, “I congratulate all our pupils on their results which pay testimony to their hard work and the dedicated support of their teachers. Amongst the class of 2026 are artists, musicians, sports stars and cadet leaders; all have shone during their time at the school, and so many - in so many spheres - have truly found their forte. They progress to university study in subjects ranging from Medicine to Fashion Design, from Mechanical Engineering to Law, Journalism, Real Estate and much more besides. Whatever their next steps, we wish our leavers well as they embark upon this exciting new chapter, and congratulate them on all that they have achieved not only in their A Level results but likewise in their school careers during their time with us. They are well ready for that next step having been brilliantly prepared - true to our school motto - to learn not just for school but for life.”
