Senior School Sports Day 2024

What a fantastic Sports Day we had at Maes Y Llan on Monday! The school grounds were a vibrant sea of red, blue, yellow, and green as Oswald, Burnaby, Donne, and Spooner Houses students gathered for a day of thrilling competition and camaraderie.

Despite the slightly cloudy and cooler weather, conditions were perfect for our long-distance runners who kicked off the event with the 1500m and 800m races. The day began with an impressive house parade, where pupils showcased their spirit in the best house dress, colourful banners, and creative costumes ranging from sharks to tutus.

Throughout the day, students participated enthusiastically in various field events, from the shot put to the triple jump, showcasing their athleticism and determination. The tug of war, always a highlight, was fiercely competitive with memorable victories for Oswald in the Junior category, Burnaby in the Inters, and joint winners Donne and Oswald among the Seniors.

New additions to this year's program, including 'old school games' like the egg and spoon race, hula hoop obstacle course, and the beloved three-legged race, added a nostalgic touch and were enjoyed by all. Following a well-deserved lunch break, the afternoon was filled with thrilling sprint races on the track, culminating in the highly anticipated staff egg and spoon race, won by Mr. Price for Spooner House.

We also celebrated outstanding achievements in individual events, with Annabelle W setting a new school record in the Junior Girls 100m, and Annabelle D breaking a long-standing record in the Triple Jump for Burnaby House.
