Oswestry pupils compete at the NSEA National Championships, Hickstead

Four Oswestry School pupils - Maisey, Alexia, Mila and Poppy - travelled to compete at the Schools National Equine Association (NSEA) Championships, at Hickstead, West Sussex during half term.  Pupils competed over 3 days, in show jumping and arena eventing classes.

A huge field of over 200 schools competed, with an average of 240 riders per class. Pupils and ponies did a valiant job, flying the flag for Oswestry School. Highlights included a stunning 70cm Show Jumping round from Poppy, gaining a 6th place with her magnificent stallion, Monarch.

Fantastic riding from all our pupils was seen around a challenging Arena Eventing course. The girls secured a school team 16th place (from 38 school teams) in this section, showcasing great team work from each of our riders, with Mila and her horse Skye, securing 18th place, and 12th individually, Poppy 28th, and Maisey 1.49 seconds off the optimum time but with a costly pole in the show jumping section of the course.

Our riders represented the school superbly, whilst demonstrating great sportsmanship, well done!
