Equestrian team ride to victory

Six members of our equestrian team competed at the National Schools Equine Association (NSEA) Eventers Championships during August bank holiday weekend.

Alexa and Jasmine Teague, Shona Flatley, Holly Rigden, Euan Montgomery, and Rosie Jones travelled to Hickstead, the home of British Show Jumping in West Sussex.

Due to the nature of the sport, COVID restrictions allowed the event to take place which had previously been postponed from May. The team and individuals had a wonderful three days competing in three Eventer Challenge classes ranging from 80cm to 1.05m. The team finished 16th from 32 schools in the 80cm, 5th from 27th schools in the 90cm.

Individual highlights included Rosie Jones riding Zelnova, achieving a National Schools 2nd place in the 90cm class from a field of 27 top UK school riders. Jasmine Teague achieved 8th place in the individual 1m class from a field of 25 riders. An amazing achievement, the hard work and efforts of these young riders and continued training during lockdown has paid off.

Whilst at the event, the team competed in a further two NSEA show jumping qualifiers with tremendous success. From a field of 100 riders in the 80cm class, the team returned home in 3rd place. They now prepare to compete at the National Schools showjumping championships at Addington in October.
