Peter Middleton gets the full 'Oswestry experience'

Mr Peter Middleton takes up his post as Headmaster of Oswestry School in January 2022. On Wednesday 24 November he came to spend the day at school, meeting some of our pupils and staff in advance of his arrival in January. In order to get the full ‘Oswestry experience’, Peter hopped onto one of our fourteen minibuses in Shrewsbury and made his way to school with a bus full of pupils.

He spent the morning shadowing one of our First Form pupils, Pearl, attending lessons with her and meeting staff and other pupils. Peter was then taken on a tour of Bellan House by three very excited Year 6 pupils, he was asked lots of questions, one of the more memorable being if he was a ‘Rockstar’.

Peter said “I have really enjoyed experiencing a day in the life of a student at Oswestry School today. I was very lucky to be able to shadow Pearl who took me to her lessons and joined me at lunch with the rest of the school council. I asked Pearl if she could give three words to describe Oswestry School, what would they be? She answered, welcoming, inclusive and amazing and I think she hit the mark. Everyone at school has made me feel so welcome so far and I can’t wait to join the school community with my family in January”

Peter joins us from Shrewsbury School, where he is currently Acting Senior Deputy Head, he will be living on site, in the Headmaster’s house with his wife Jenna and three daughters, Isla (11), Sophia (8) and Rosie (6).
