Outstanding success for Open Morning

Oswestry School and Bellan House bucked against the ‘virtual’ trend and
opened their doors for an interactive Open Morning.

Spaces for the Open Morning were booked within three days of their release, and
parents and their children who were keen to visit the school were delighted to be
able to walk around, meet teachers, see pupils and get a real understanding of the
opportunities and education the school provides.

“Parents may find it difficult to choose a school with current lockdown restrictions,”
said Headmaster, Julian Noad. “All schools can be very similar online, but the real
difference is tangible when they are visited in person.

“We felt that it was important for parents to have an opportunity to see for
themselves what Oswestry School, and Bellan House, are like. The close family
feeling that you experience when walking around the campus just can’t be expressed
in the same way through videos and an online showcase”.

Ensuring that pupils, staff and visiting parents adhered to COVID regulations was
key to the success of the morning.

“Strict time slots, track and trace, and specific viewing areas for classrooms all made
the morning possible,” said the Headmaster. “Although the morning was not the
usual showcase of activities, parents were more than happy to adhere to our
regulations and all understood the need for an event that had less ‘bells and
whistles’.

“All the families who visited the school remarked on how glad they were to be there
in person, rather than on a screen”.

The oversubscribed Open Morning was so successful that the school will now be
offering a second date on Saturday 28 November for any families who couldn’t
secure a slot. For more information email admissions@oswestryschool.org.uk.
