Oswestry School A-level results 2021

An exceptionally strong year group of Oswestry School Upper Sixth leavers were robbed of their ‘cup final’ in the examinations room but Headmaster, Julian Noad, is delighted with the way that all stuck with their studies through lockdowns and disrupted learning. This year’s A-level results have been entirely teacher-assessed, supported by multiple assessments and with no algorithms to confuse, and can be argued to be more reliable than ever.

It is fabulous to be celebrating excellent outcomes, with 50% of our pupils securing top A* or A grades. We are very proud of every pupil’s endeavour. The clear careers guidance has helped ensure that the vast majority of pupils have secured their first choice university place or career path.

We are thrilled for our pupils and that their hard work and resilience has truly paid off and set them up for the next chapter, wherever that may be. Here are a handful of our pupil’s university destinations: Rachel will be reading Law at Durham; Marcus - Materials science at Imperial; Alexandru - Physics at Imperial; Dan - Computer Science at Bath; Darcie (our Head Girl) - Geography at Liverpool; and Connor and Helena - Economics and Art History, respectively, at Exeter.

Some of our pupils are also heading further afield to top universities around the globe. Alex P (our Head boy) has gained a scholarship to Michigan State University and Sofi will be studying at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. Itoro is heading to Carleton University in Canada, Milica will be reading Architecture at the University of Turin. Sally has accepted the offer of a scholarship to Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, and Andrew is heading off to join the RAF.

They leave Oswestry School well-equipped to follow successful careers and play their part in societies all around the globe. They are deserving of huge praise for their academic achievements but also their wider contributions to the co-curriculum and our community at large.

We thank them all and wish them every future success and happiness.
