Towards the end of September, 4th Form pupil Isla, entered several events at the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show 2024.
Saturday was the handling day where Isla was judged on her ability to work with her calf and work within the class. There was stiff competition in the 14-17 age group and Isla was nearly the youngest in the intermediate age group. Isal placed a very creditable 5th place out of 20 competitors, a fantatsic result!
Sunday saw the calf classes which is judged just on the calf. Isla entered with her own home-bred calf called 'Sweetpea JS Barbie' who was born last December. She was placed 2nd in her class of 20 calves which qulified her for the championship later in the day. A great result and achievement for Isla who was one of only a handful of competitors who had bred their calves themselves.
Isla was also a finalist in the Littlestar award that recognises the achievements of Holstein Young Breeders in their clubs, and nationally, and the judges were particularly impressed by Isla’s drive and career planning for her future.
Huge congratualtions to Isla, and Sweetpea, for such an impressive result over the weekend.
