Year 7 transition day to remember

We understand that making the move from primary school to senior school is quite a daunting prospect for all children. That's why we try to make the transition as smooth as possible, by inviting our year 6 pupils up to the senior school regularly for lunch and lessons. This allows the pupils to become familiar with the campus and teachers before they move up permanently.

On Monday we held a Year 6 transition day at the senior school. We welcomed over 30 future pupils from over 15 schools to come and try out a day at Oswestry School before they join us in September. Their day consisted of Sports, a science fun show and Maths with Mr Hibbert where they learnt how to step through an A4 piece of paper without ripping it. They also spent time in Design & Technology, where they made model rockets using cardboard tubes, dowels and elastic bands. They then tested them to see how far they travelled. The pupils also completed an 'All About Me' booklet to find out more about their future peers. To end the academic day the pupils enjoyed a tour of the lower school followed by a BBQ on Potter's Lawn with their parents and teachers.

Here they are at the beginning of the day all squeezed into Mr Middleton's office, ready for an exciting day at Oswestry School. A big thank you to everyone who attended and we look forward to seeing you in September.
