Will's 999 Challenge raises £1,289 for the NHS

One week ago Will, a 9 year old pupil in Year 4 at Bellan House, set himself a target to perform 9 different sports in 9 hours; the 999 Challenge. Keeping the 9 theme going, his father, Phil Bowd, started a JustGiving page for people to support Will, with a target of £99.

One week later, Will completed his 9 sports, and has raised an outstanding £1,289 for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

The sports he chose were cycling, running, bouncing (trampoline), scootering, football, badminton, table tennis, swing ball and cricket.

Will’s mum, Rachel, said, “Will came up with this idea of playing sport all day, just stopping for food and drink breaks. Having watched other inspirational people raising money, like Captain Tom, he wanted to support his local NHS Trust himself.

The weather was almost too good and the heat was crazy at midday but he kept going. To say that we, as a family, are proud is an understatement! He's smashed his £99 target and his emotions at the finish line were of genuine pride.

We can't thank everyone who has supported us enough, be it through Facebook posts/likes, texts, cookies, homemade medals, posters and the amazing donations Will has received”.
