British Schools Biathlon Championships success

Two Oswestry School pupils competed at the 2021 British Schools Biathlon Championships at Bath University on Sunday 16 October 2021. Both pupils were selected for the biathlon championships based on their performance in the virtual biathlon in June last year. The biathlon is the discipline of running and swimming over a distance of a 200m swim and 1600m run for Charlie and Josh’s age groups.

During the event, Charlie and Josh competed superbly well against exceptional opposition. Charlie knocked 3 seconds off his 100m personal best swimming time, a fantastic achievement in the U14 category. Despite feeling under the weather on the day, in the U18 age category, Josh ran a PB in the run and battled his way through to come 5th overall in the Championships. A fitting end to the day was the awards ceremony - presented by Joe Choong, Tokyo 2020 Modern Pentathlon Olympic Gold Medallist, who is this year’s Schools Biathlon ambassador.

We would like to congratulate the boys on their efforts and success.
