U18 netballers are county champions

Our U18 netball team won the Plate Competition at the County tournament at Wrekin College.

The conditions were wet and windy, however, this did not affect the team's performance. The first match was against Adams Grammar School where the team managed to win 4-3 with a last-minute goal from Hannah P. The next game was against William Brooks which was a slightly easier win, 8-2, due to impressive interceptions from Anna H and Beth W. Shortly after, they played Idsall School and produced another impressive performance winning 11-5. The penultimate match was a close game against The Marches with the girls narrowly winning 6-4.

The next match against Newport Grammar School was always going to be tough, however, the team were ahead 4-2 at half-time, but narrowly lost 6-5 at full-time. The final game, against Concord College, was where goal difference was going to decide if the girls would come 1st or 2nd in the round-robin tournament. The team managed to win 6-1, putting them at the top of the table, winning the overall plate competition.

Well done to Hannah P, Dee E and Emma L for their consistent shooting, Axana B, Phoebe M and Darcie C for their smooth and quick transitions down court, and Anna H and Beth W for their strong defence. Overall, an excellent performance.
