Pupils put through their paces with Severn Stars netballer Nia Jones

Pupils enjoyed a live Zoom training session with Severn Stars netballer, Nia Jones, as part of their ongoing at-home training sessions.

Nia, originally from Wrexham, knew the town of Oswestry very well as she drove through it when going to Cardiff for University and she really looked forward to working with us.

The girls and staff were put through their paces as Nia first introduced a ball skills warm-up and then a session of fast, short, sharp movement skills in a small area using hand-eye coordination. Nia also set out a fitness challenge with donkey kicks and abdominal twists.

At the end of the training session the pupils had an opportunity to put questions to Nia including, "What is your training programme like?", "What was your favourite match to play in?", and "Which team do you like playing with the most?"

Nia responded to all the questions in detail and was incredibly supportive offering helpful insights and tips into the world of netball.

It was an inspiring experience for everyone who participated and a delight to have over 40 girls from Year 5 through to Year 13 attend the session.
