University of Oxford success for Tommy

After a rigorous and extremely competitive application process, we are thrilled to announce that one of our U6 pupils, Tommy Bromage, has been offered a place at the University of Oxford to read Chemical Engineering.

In 2020, more than 23,000 people applied for undergraduate study with only 3,300 undergraduate places available. Tommy will be heading to St Edmund Hall, aka. ‘Teddy Hall’ in 2023 after taking a gap year.

Tommy said “I’m so shocked and excited to have been offered a place, I really can’t believe it. I have been at Oswestry School since First Form and am so grateful to all of my subject teachers for their help and encouragement. Especially Dr Ellis, who has given me so much time and help with my interview preparation and practise.”

Headmaster Peter Middleton (pictured above with Tommy) commented: "Many congratulations to Tommy for his achievement in receiving the award of a place which, as a school community, we share in celebrating. Well done!"
