Third form pupils Lewis and Owen recently completed investigating the Collatz conjecture, an unsolved problem in mathematics, during extra-curricular mathematics. All of their hard work and efforts paid off as Dr Tim Reis and Dr Tony Mann, experts in computational mathematics at the University of Greenwich, reviewed their work.
Dr Tim Reis commented, "This is truly exceptional work on a very interesting mathematical problem”. Lewis and Owen both received a letter of commendation, a certificate, and some mathematical gifts in recognition of their impressive work.
Very well done Lewis and Owen, two Mathematicians in the making!
