A Mediterranean Dream: Oswestry School's Summer Ball 2024

As proceedings drew to a close on a rainy Speech Day, excitement began for those attending the Friends of Oswestry School Mediterranean Summer Ball.  Thanks to the small team of parent volunteers supported by David Jones and his fantastic team, the magic of the Mediterranean had arrived at Oswestry School!

The guests were welcomed to a sunny, sparkling drinks reception, with time to mingle and admire the glorious grounds surrounding. As guests made their way to Momentum Hall a Tuscan Grove inspired walkway of lemon trees led to a sixty year old 11 foot olive tree majestically sitting outside Momentum Hall.  A scene inspired by Santorini designed and  created by talented parent volunteers left nobody in doubt of the theme.  On entering the hall, a heady aroma of lemon, basil and rosemary filled the room, a feast for the eyes with table centre’s attorned with lemon trees, pepper plants and bougainvillea.

Thanks to our evenings sponsors Arron & Sons, Barkers ring & Gift shop and IDS, guests were treated to a selection of glorious goodies.

A toast was raised to our VIP Upper Sixth students before a feast of delicious Mediterranean inspired food supplied by Dougherty & Allen.

This year’s raffle was the most successful yet all thanks to the support of our wonderful school community contributing to a new initiative of House Hampers. A selection of wonderful prizes including Fortnum & Mason Hampers, White Company goodies with scents of Capri and Sicilian lemon were ready to be collected by the lucky winners. The successful bidders of our auction prize can’t wait to welcome a Dougherty & Allen Michelin trained private chef catering for 10 guests all served in the comfort of their own home.

Throughout the evening there was plenty of fun to be had at the photo booth and friends old and new joined on the dance floor to celebrate the end of another full and exciting year at Oswestry School. As the music dimmed and fairy lights twinkled it was time to close the doors on another successful Summer Ball.
